MEGADETH - 1988.05.14 Playhouse Theatre, Edinburgh, Scotland

From a cassette purchased at a Record Fair in Edinburgh not long after the show. This guy always seemed to have the latest shows - whether he recorded them himself, he never said - but, with only a couple of months between the gig and me buying this, it's maybe not too many generations. But who knows.

Anyhow, a gig that I was at that I remember next to nothing about apart from the fact that it was Jeff Young playing geetar. And his guitar strap was, quite frankly, way too short. I definitely don't remember seeing the support act Sanctuary though. If that helps. Ask Kirky what they were like as he remembers them.

MEGADETH - 1998.07.08 Hard Rock Cafe, Boston, MA, USA

Acoustic

Lineage: FM > Tape > PC via Audacity v1.2.6 > FLAC Level 6 > Dime

Megadeth was part of OzzFest 98, which played in Mansfield, MA on July 7th and 9th. On the day off in between, the band came to the Boston to play a special acoustic show at the Hard Rock Cafe. It was sponsored by local radio station WAAF 107.3, and John Osterlind, a DJ from the station, MC'ed the event, asking questions between songs. There's a small cut in the final commentary track (for lack of a better term) where the tape was flipped, but very litte was missed. This is a 10 year old recording, so it may not be what you'd expect from an FM source. but it's still pretty damn good.

I've been looking for a CD copy of this for a long time, but none of the bootleg sites I saw had this listed which makes me think no else ever released this to the public, so here's my copy. This was a fairly special show in Megadeth history as it was during this show that Jimmy DeGrasso was officially announced as the band's new drummer.

Dave Mustaine - Vocals, Guitar
David Ellefson - Bass, Backing Vocals
Marty Friedman - Guitar, Backing Vocals
Jimmy DeGrasso - Percussion, Backing Vocals

03. A Secret Place (6:37)
04. Commentary 1 (2:44)

06. Use the Man (3:40)
07. Commentary 2 (2:29)
08. A Tout le Monde (4:14)
