"I am posting this show as I know that Paul wanted me to do it before he passed but I couldn't find my copies that Paul gave me years ago but this is off of his transfer from mini-disc to cdr.

Once again I want to thank the whole staff @ The Trader's Den for bringing a lot of pleasure to Paul in his final days on this planet...... he really enjoyed learning how to create & posting his own shows and was looking forward to putting them all out himself but now that honor fall in my lap.... which I am happy to accept as this will not be a chore because I was the person who encouraged him to start taping his own shows and he looked to me for advice on how to get a better recording.
Over the years we (Gov,Dave,Paul along with Heather & Debbie) would cross the country to see Metallica through the years from 1991 up to now....and we were brought together by the constant touring. We made many friends on the road both with the band and crew along with the fans we would meet along the way.

Anybody who has ever met Paul was touched by how gentle he was in spite of his menacing appearance. He is a very brave man who fought a very tough battle to the very end.

Paul is still is "Toughest S.O.B." that both of us have ever met...... and his mom Cheryl is a pretty "tough" cookie too!

Notes by Adam:

This was my 5th time seeing DOWN play. Always great to see them in New Orleans, no matter what the venue, and the House of Blues made it that much better. There was some occassional shifting by the crowd in front and around me, so there is some slight phasing or shifting in the recording at times, but overall it's nice and clean.

One thing I've never seen at a show before... These two friends, guy and girl, started wrestling during Learn From This Mistake. The guy actually body slammed the girl on the hard floor, and security came in to break it up. As soon as the guy and girl realized what was going on, they were all hugs, telling security to back off. You can hear the guy telling them "Let go of her. That's my girl." Very very strange... it looked to me like the guy was lucky he didn't break the girl's back, but they were just play-fighting.

Enjoy!

Notes by Adam:

My 6th time seeing DOWN play, and one of the best for sure. The sound was very loud, but nice and clean and not muddy or distorted at all, and it made for a good recording. Props to the sound guy. There was some occassional shifting by the crowd in front and around me, so there is some slight phasing or shifting in the recording at times, but overall it's nice and clean.

It was pretty incredible getting to see DOWN in this small venue where I'm used to coming to see a favorite local act play. The guys sounded great and were really fired up for this show, and Phil's voice was much improved over the last House of Blues show in April '07. Now I'm looking forward to next month's show in NOLA.

Enjoy!

I elected to leave then in for sake of completeness. I boasted the level on the first half to better match the level of the rest of the recording.

The mighty Down in Detroit ! Great gig, the band is in fantastic form, The Melvins take over on the end of bury me in smoke. The Melvins were onstage when I arrived and I made my way to find a spot and out comes the birthday boy Jimmy Bower, they brougfht out a cake and the crowd sang happy birthday. I was getting my gear out and started recording right after that so the bonus track is the last song of their set with Jimmy sitting in on drums.

Notes:
Despite this being a shorter set than their previous show in town it was still a hell of a show. The encore break was about 4 minutes long, so I cut out part of it so this would fit on one CD.            Towards the end of "Bury Me in Smoke" the band handed their instruments off to their roadies who continued playing the song for another couple of minutes along with Dixie Dave from Weedeater.
